Coat of Peace

The Coat of Peace is the largest project so far undertaken by the Foundation.
It is the transformation of the Piétà in bronze by A.Chromy, as can be seen in many European cities (Salzburg Cathedral, Prague Opera, Grimaldi’s Palace in Monaco etc.), into the Coat of Peace made from white Carrara marble. The mystical “mother of all grieving mothers”, as Dr. Georg Eder, Archbishop of Salzburg, calls it in his letter dated 8.2.2006 to Anna Chromy, transforms into the symbol of untroubled, joyful calm (Serenità), redeeming peace, through the use of the purest white crystalline material that exists, Carrara marble. Dr. Georg Eder sums this up with the following words: “Out of the empty coat, which has concealed all the suffering of the world within itself, arises peace. It is the conquest over suffering. Let it envelop a world in which there is no peace.”

Let’s listen to St. Francis’ prayer of peace as well:

Lord,
make me an instrument
of your peace,
Where there is hatred,
let me sow Love;
Where there is offence,
let me sow Pardon;
Where there is conflict,
let me sow Unity
Where there is doubt,
let me sow Faith;
Where there is error,
let me sow Truth
Where there is despair,
let me sow Hope;
Where there is sadness,
let me sow Joy;
Where there is darkness,
let me sow Light.
